At Workshop, we created a weekly email newsletter rooted in one of our core values: look on the bright side.

Built for internal communicators, the newsletter brought an optimistic, human voice to balance out the usual “ugh, it’s Monday” energy that often defines workplace communication.

It quickly became a beloved extension of the brand and a reliable content engine for both customers and prospects. We even started getting weekly emails from people asking to be added to the list, which is never a bad problem to have.

Starting with a refresh

Ope! Got ahead of myself here but the newsletter already had a strong following under its existing name, so I approached the work as a functional refresh rather than a full rebrand, with a focus on scalability and instant recognition.

The previous visuals felt too closely tied to the core Workshop brand, which created an opportunity to build something more distinct while still feeling connected to the larger ecosystem. I grounded the visual system in sun and sparkle motifs to reinforce the optimistic thread that defined the newsletter from the start.

From there, the goal was to elevate the overall craft and bring more intentionality and polish to every asset in the excution.

One does not simply design a newsletter

We had a ton of fun pushing the HMC brand into a wide range of playful executions, using the system as a space to explore new ideas, experiment visually, and keep the work feeling fresh week after week.
